The only available route is jeep road. Gulmit is only 3 km apart from this magical lake. Travelling from Gulmit to Borith lake via jeep takes around 30 to 40 minutes. The road to birds’ heaven is full of natural beauties. The trekking route is very mesmerising and beautiful. Trekking journey starts from Gulmit and takes around 2 to 3 hours for locals and an hour extra for the tourists. Most tourists and explorers recommend opting trekking over travelling.

Walk up from the main Karakorum Highway road on the dirt road passing villages with fresh fruit gardens and the scenic Borith Lake. The walk will take 1-2 hours depending on fitness.
If you have your own transport drive up, it takes around 15 minutes. If you don’t have your own car you will have to pay 1000 rupees for a one-way ride up (2000 for return). Jeeps wait at the turnoff waiting to take people.
One nice way to do it is to take a car up there and walk back to the main road after the hike (if you don’t have your own car that is.
The word Altit has its roots in the Tibetan language and it means “the side down”. Built by the Mirs of Hunza, Altit Fort acted as a grand display of power to the Mirs of Nagar – the neighboring state – and it has been standing gracefully ever since. Its famous Shikari tower was built at a strategic point that aids in monitoring the entire region giving the army a winning advantage. While standing on top of the tower, the strategic importance of such high elevation is evident from the visibility of all surrounding mountains and woods in case of an attack.
Passu Cones are located in a small village called Passu in the Gojal valley in the Hunza district of Gilgit Baltistan region in Pakistan. Passu is a major tourist attraction in Hunza because of its scenic landscape and highlights such as Passu Sar Mountain, Passu Glacier, and Mount Tu Popdan also known as Passu Cones which is the highest peak in this region and is about 6,106 meters above the sea level.
It lies in Batura Valley Passu in Gojal region of the Gilgit-Baltistan Pakistan. The Batura Glacier, 57 kilometers (35 mi) long the northern region is holy with lofty mountains, long glaciers and amazing landscape making it a heaven for Alpine lovers. Baltit Fort is a 700-year-old fort located near Karimabad in Gilgit Baltistan and once acted as the capital of the state of Hunza, and remained inhabited by the Mirs (rulers of the state) up until 1945. Baltit fort is strategically located to provide a panoramic view of Hunza to assess threats from both outside and inside of the state. It is the best place to visit as the fort is situated on an artificially flattened surface just below Ultar Glacier and has become a popular tourist destination after its restoration in 1990 by Agha Khan Foundation.
Hoper Valley is located in the district Nagar Valley in district Hunza Nagar, Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. Hopar Valley is a home to villages around a natural land bowl at a bend of Altar or Bualtar Glacier also known as Hoper Glacier.
Sost Bazaar is a small bazaar built on the sides of the main Highway from which Pakistani and Chinese cargo trucks are on a constant move in between both countries.
Khunjerab Pass is the highest border-crossing in the world Khunjerab Pass is an international high mountain pass at an elevation of 4.706m (15,439ft) above the sea level, located on the border of Pakistan and China. It is said to be the highest border-crossing in the world. It’s the highest point on the Karakoram Highway.
Rakaposhi also known as Dumani is a mountain within the Karakoram range. It is situated in the middle of the Nagar Valley and the Bagrote Valley, which is part of the Gilgit-Baltistan territory in Pakistan. The mountain is extremely broad, measuring almost 20km from east to west.
